Viola Ford Fletcher (pictured to the right) and Lessie Benningfield Randle (pictured above), the last two known survivors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, have lived through one of the darkest chapters in American history, a night of terror when a thriving Black community was burned to the ground by a white supremacist mob. Businesses, churches, and homes were reduced to ashes, and with them, the generational wealth of Black families like Viola's and Lessie's.
Yet, despite over a century of resilience, no reparations have been paid. No formal apology has been issued. And at 110 years old, both Viola and Lessie still do not own a home of their own. This is more than just a fundraiser—this is a moral obligation. We have spoken with the survivors, and we are taking action. We have launched a GoFundMe campaign to give Ms. Fletcher and Ms. Randle the one thing they have been unjustly denied for over a century: the security and dignity of homeownership.
This is our moment to make history right.
Every dollar gets us closer to giving Ms. Fletcher the home she should have had decades ago.
Justice delayed is NOT justice denied—if we act now.
Ms. Lessie Benningfield Randle, affectionately known as "Mother Randle," has carried the weight of history. She is living proof of the destruction that wiped out Greenwood, a thriving Black community known as “Black Wall Street.”
No reparations. No apology. No justice.
At 110 years old, Mother Randle deserves to live her final years in peace and dignity. Yet, she still does not own a home of her own. After surviving the unimaginable and fighting for recognition, the simple security of homeownership should not be another battle.
We are stepping up.
We have launched a GoFundMe campaign to ensure that Mother Randle can finally have what was stolen from her family generations ago, a home she can call her own. This is more than a fundraiser; this is a call to action, a chance to correct a historical wrong and uplift a survivor who has given so much to this country.
Justice has been delayed for too long. Let’s make sure it is not denied.
